Nirvanix cloud storage deployed for health care firm; more news

Health care solutions provider Cerner Corp. has deployed an on-demand managed storage service offering based on a Nirvanix cloud storage solution. The private cloud service will enable Cerner to consolidate PACs, radiology, lab, clinical systems and patient records in an enterprise-grade cloud storage environment.

Cerner initially installed a multi-petabyte scalable private node of cloud storage located within its data centers, fully maintained as a service by Nirvanix. The Nirvanix Cloud File System lets Cerner provide usage-based pricing to its clients and a true global namespace that ensures instant content access regardless of location.

Citrix acquires ShareFile, adds Data Sharing product group

ShareFile CEO Jesse Lipson will become vice president and general manager of Citrix's new Data Sharing product group, which will be responsible for the ShareFile product line and enabling the Citrix “follow-me-data” strategy. Attunity Replicate now loads data to Microsoft SQL Azure

Attunity Replicate fully automates the loading process into SQL Azure and has optimizations for loading data from on-premises databases to SQL Azure databases in the cloud. It also leverages log-based technology to capture and deliver transaction changes with little impact on source database systems, including Oracle, SQL Server and DB2.

IceWEB Model 6000-HR unified data storage system

IceWEB, a provider of unified data storage and building blocks for cloud storage networks, has received an order from a New York City-based cloud computing services company that will deploy the IceWEB Model 6000-HR in its cloud-based VMware server environment. The IceWEB Model 6000-HR is a dual-controller configuration that scales to 224 TBs with disk shelves and supports ENT SAS and MDL SAS drives.

TwinStrata raises Series B funding

TwinStrata Inc. announced the close of an $8 million Series B round of financing led by Avalon Ventures. TwinStrata will use the investment to expand sales and marketing efforts for its CloudArray solution. The company recently announced distribution partnerships with DataCore and Veeam.
